Athletics Round-Up by Seb
On Tuesday the 29th of January 2013 several local schools in Surrey participated in a fearsome school athletics clash at Ashcombe Secondary School.
There was plenty of talent in the competition; from brilliant long-distance runners to super-speedy sprinters- I was proud to represent my school! Hinchley Wood's girls' team, including dynamic captain Annabelle along with Katie, Millie, Grace, Lauren and Wita, cruised into third place (out of 7) just missing out on a place to qualify for the County Cup. However the boys, lead by Jamie and ably supported by Ray, Joey, Sam, Josh, Seb, Ben, Thomas and Oscar, managed to secure 2nd place - defeating tough opponents in order to qualify to represent the school in the County Cup! Well done all! |
On the 12th of March 2013, a talented group of children from both year 7 boys and girls to our experienced year 8 boys - proudly represented Hinchley Wood School at the P&G Surrey School Games County Final.
Despite the fact that our year 7 girls only got through to this major event by default, they certainly amazed all the spectators in the hall with an OUTSTANDING performance settling on 4th spot out of ten! Every girl gave it their best shot; the girls thoroughly deserved 4th place! A fantastic achievement. Me and the rest of the year 7 boys started off on a high, securing 2nd place in the challenging obstacle race. All of us remained motivated and put in a stunning performance in both track and field events. The last event of the day was the relay... Despite the major loss of Josh - our fastest sprinter, we managed to fight off stiff competition to come 1st! Overall the boys came 4th! Congratulations to all the boys!!! Lots of credit to the year 8 boys too as well - not giving up without a fight as they also did a fantastic job of representing the school! |
