Local Actress Appears on the West End Stage by Rosa
The Rose Theatre Drama Club is a club where budding actors are encouraged to broaden their scope and become young actors. They have performed many times at the Rose Theatre in Kingston, where one of the groups has performed Gargantuan, a play about a giant baby. They also encourage children to work on improvisation and have recently done a performance of monologues, exclusively for the parents. Ruth has been attending the Drama group and was recently spotted for her talent and has been in a performance at the Royal Opera House in London. She believes the Rose Theatre Drama Club is helpful as well as fun. They are also doing a performance soon – the exact date is not known –at the Rose and it is a twist on the book ‘Arabian Nights’. Ruth tells us a little about the monologues and performing at the Royal Opera House;
“It was great fun (The Royal Opera) and I loved acting in it but the best part was making new friends. I did a piece (for my monologue) from a well-known book called Millicent’s Story.(In the Royal Opera House) I felt like I was really getting into the role and I was very proud of myself! The great thing about acting is you can change your character, you don’t have to be boring Ruth, you can be anyone you want to be. I want to be an actress when I’m older and I will do anything to make my dreams come true. The best acting job I’ve done is acting in the West End. It was awesome and I got to meet famous singers. I played a young village girl celebrating at a festival, it was exciting and intriguing.”
