A Welsh Victory Celebrated in England by JoeAlthough there might have been disappointment across England after the result of the Six Nations last weekend, there were a few members of the Hinchley Wood Community who had cause to celebrate.
Mr Griffiths, Assistant Head Teacher at the school was at the match and was more than happy with the victory for Wales. We interviewed him about the atmosphere at the game and his thoughts on a Welsh win. |
Hinchley Wood Victorious by Joe MHinchley Wood 89 - Rivers Academy 0
Last Tuesday Hinchley Wood School played a rugby match against Rivers Academy. We arrived after a long, what felt like hopeless, journey. Getting there we were hungry for some contact. As it seemed they had spent all their money on the front gate, but as it grew on us they had in fact spent most the money on the interior. But this didn’t mean that they were necessarily good at rugby! After a few minutes of warming up we were ready to play. The nerve had hit us and we were missing our best kicker, however we played on. |
Scoring the first tri was the ice-breaker for us as a team and reassured us that tis game could be ours. Along came another tri the majority coming from our beast Max. George and Sam successfully put away some conversions from very acute angels. Although, George unfortunately missed a sitting duck straight in front of the conversion posts. A few tries passed by with none coming from Rivers Academy. Then right at the end Joe came out with a run bending round to convert his own tri. Only just inside those dreaded posts.
The whistle blew and we did the usual hand shake followed by a, hip hip hooray. A good game and a good win for the boys (89-0) |
